It's a slippery slope, easing from holiday stress to full reintegration into real life again. It's better to just push off and rocket headlong.
The antidote to cold weather, commercialism and overindulgence is to laugh until your poles rattle. That's what the Snowed In Comedy Tour is bringing to Prince George just in time for the restart of post-holiday regularity. Four of Canada's top comedians will blast through the powder of our new year.
"The Snowed In Comedy Tour has turned in to a Canadian success story, celebrating it's tenth year," said event organizers.
That's a decade of laughter and a decade of snowboarding. The conceptual comic was Dan Quinn who, with some of his funny buddies, wanted to hit the best slopes in Canada. With their portable profession, they set up a tour to do so. Powder King was on their first list, and they are still coming back to the Prince George Playhouse year after year because this area has so many slopes to savour.
The four snowcapped crackups are: Dan Quinn, Craig Campbell, Pete Zedlacher and Paul Myrehaug.
Quinn has opened for Russell Peters, Tracy Morgan, Rob Schneider, Bob Saget and Tom Green. He is the winner of The Canadian Comedy Competition at Just for Laughs. He was chosen Best of the Fest at both the Moncton Comedy Festival and Vancouver Comedy Festival. He has been seen on CBC, CTV and the Comedy Network and heard on XM Radio. He has a bestseller DVD called The Stuff I Wanted To Say and he has an album on iTunes called The Best of the Snowed In Comedy Tour.
Zedlacher is an eight-time performer at Just For Laughs. He has five Canadian Comedy Award nominations, one of them for the win. He has also been nominated for a pair of Gemini Awards.
Recently he won Sirius XM's nationwide comedy competition, earning him the title of Sirius XM's Top Comic. He is a regular on The Debaters and he is an actor and writer on a long list of television shows - everything from Little Mosque On the Prairie to The Ron James Show to Puppets Who Kill and is the co-host of the heavy metal show Loud on MuchMusic.
Myrehaug is another regular with Just For Laughs, on The Debaters and at festivals all over the world. He took home the $25,000 top prize on the Comedy Network show The Great Canadian Laugh-Off. He took second at the Seattle International Comedy Competitin and was a finalist for the Boston International Comedy Competition.
Campbell is another of Canada's busier comedians. Some of the highlights of the last few years include being nominated Best Headliner at The Chortle Awards, he supported Frankie Boyle on his 120-date nationwide tour, finished his own nationwide solo tour - Craig Campbell Live - and performed on Dave's One Night Stand, Russell Howard's Good News and Michael MacIntyre's Comedy Roadshow on the BBC. He was the co-host of Ed's Night Party with Ed The Sock, and he has appeared alongside Rich Hall, Dennis Miller and Jim Carrey during his international career.
The slope-style foursome will carve their turns at the P.G. Playhouse on Jan. 6 at 7 p.m. then reprise the show at 10 p.m. The former is already a sellout with tickets becoming scarce for the latter as well.
Tickets are available online at the www.centralinteriortickets.com while supplies last.
These comedians are also performing in Quesnel, Smithers Terrace and Prince Rupert on this year's Snowed In Comedy Tour.
