The Cadillac of Cajun comes to the Treasure Cove show lounge during the Mardi Gras Snow Daze celebration.

Harpdog Brown and the Bloodhounds electrify the party Wednesday night as they dust off originals and rock the house with traditional and not-so-traditional blues tunes.

"I'm a firm believer that recycling is good for the planet, so I recycle music," said Brown.

Graham Guest, keyboards; Paul Finn, guitar; Jeff Lifk, drums; Chris Brzezicki, upright bass -- doghouse bass as Brown calls it, round out the amplified sound.

"When I got the five piece band, it's the Cadillac, including the fifth wheel on the back -- that's the piano."

The band's got some festive diddies they'll play during the gig, showcasing New Orleans' finest.

"And of course, having that piano really makes a big difference and adds the right Mardi Gras flavour to the show," Brown said.

Brown cut a new album, Naturally, and just recently released it through iTunes. It's been well received, which is gratifying to Brown since he bares his soul in his performance.

"You've gotta know that I don't do anything for anybody but me first, otherwise you'll see through it because I'm just not that good of a liar or actor so I stick with my own truth and thankfully people dig it. I think people get the honesty and the truth in my performance."

Brown submitted the record to be considered for a Juno, Canada's music awards. He was nominated in 1995, the only other time he submitted his work for consideration, and has hopes for this year.

"I was the only nominee west of Ontario that year," said Brown. "Now, I kinda feel like it's my turn."
