There's nothing like good old-fashioned gospel music to soothe the soul.

The Soujourners are making an appearance at the Prince George Playhouse Sunday Oct. 14 at 8 p.m.

It all came together for them when Canadian blues icon Jim Byrnes called on Marcus Mosely to ask a couple of friends to record back-up vocals on his new album.

The moment the three sang together they knew they had something special.

The Vancouver-based award-winning group finds Mosely, from Ralls Texas, Will Sanders, from Chicago, Illinois, and Khari McClelland, from Detroit, Michigan, combining their authentically-edged voices for soul music that just can't be faked.

Byrnes dubbed the trio the Sojourners and they name stuck.

The group has been nominated for a Juno Award for Blues Album of the Year and won the Western Canadian Music Award for outstanding contemporary Christian/gospel recording.

Tickets are at Studio 2880, 2880-15th Avenue, or by calling 250-563-2880.
