Sack races, ice cream making, crafts and face painting are all part of Huble Homestead's Kids Carnival, today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
"This is one of our biggest and most favourite events," said Krystal Leason, operations manager at Huble Homestead/Giscome Portage Heritage Society. "It's just so much fun for everybody - even staff."
There are lots of activities for guests.
"One of the things that makes it so carnival-y is that we have carnival games for children to play and for those it's 25 cents to play with a guaranteed prize for everyone," said Leason.
There's roll the dice, buried treasure, and spin the wheel.
"We've got Two Rivers (Gallery) coming to do crafts with the kids, there will be face painting and the Shire of Cold Keep will do some heavy fighting demonstrations. The public library is coming to do story time a few times throughout the day and there will be some magic shows by Huggleberry the Clown in the loft and the Nechako Community Theatric Society will do roaming magic and some balloon animals and the blacksmith will be there, too."
To greet guests coming into Huble Homestead, Costumes for a Cause will have a mascot the kids will be happy to meet and greet at the welcome barn.
"We've got costumes for dress-up at our Kids Corner and there will be some musical entertainment and treasure hunt games," said Leason. "It's just a really fun, busy day."
When guests come into the homestead, they will be given a schedule of events so that they can plan their day and not miss the highlights.
Admission is by a suggested family donation of $10.
