The annual Francofun Winter Festival take place from Saturday to February 2.
The official spokesperson for the festival is Sarah Beaudry, bioathlon international athlete, to highlight one of the local sports-minded community members.
Here is the schedule of events:
Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Danse, Danse, Danse is presented as part of the Coldsnap Music Festival with the Yves Lambert trio from Quebec, Vazzy from Vancouver and Les Colons Biens from Prince George. The event is held at the Ramada Ballroom, 444 George St. Tickets are $30.
Monday, Jan. 28 at 6:30 p.m there is a movie, Intouchables, with English subtitles, at the College of New Caledonia, 3330 22 Ave. and it's free.
Tuesday, Jan 29 at 11:45 a.m. there is a luncheon and show for seniors for members of Le Cercle des Canadiens Franais and friends at Westwood Church, 2658 Ospika Blvd. RSVP by January 25.
Wednesday, Jan. 30 from 5 to 8 p.m. there is an Artisans Appreciation evening at 1752 Fir Street. come meet local artists and artisans working on master pieces. This is a free event.
Thursday, Jan. 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. there is a sport evening at Otway Nordic Ski Centre. Registration required in advance. For more information call 250-561-2565.
Friday, Feb. 1 at 10 a.m. there is an animated story time at the main branch of the library, 887 Dominion St. Free for three to six year olds who must be accompanied by an adult. Registration required in advance. For more information call 250-561-2565.
Saturday, Feb. 2 Sugar Shack brunch from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with free activities will take place at St. Mary's Hall, 1088 Gillett St.
9 a.m. to noon is snow sculpture contest
9:30 a.m. there is a kids art corner and face painting
11 a.m. there is a parade and a presentation about the Canada 2015 Winter Games.
10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. is the brunch
10:30 a.m. Two people cross-saw competition; hammering; hockey puck shooting; snowshoeing
11:45 a.m. toffee on snow
2 p.m. Raffles and Auction, including grand prize draw of trip for four from Prince George to Prince Rupert with Via Rail.
Brunch tickets are free for members, children under five free; students with cards and seniors (60+) $10; adults $17; family (parents with their children 18 and under) $35. Deadline to get tickets for the brunch is Monday, Jan. 28 at 4:30 p.m.
Each time you participate at one of the activities, you will receive an entry for the grand prize.
