Theatre North West's new play development program called TrueNorth New Works has found its two finalists.
Betsy Trumpener and Dennis Tait have presented short plays that will be dramaturged and workshopped by professional theatre people in the coming months and one will be chosen to be produced by Theatre North West in February 2015 during the Canada Winter Games.
"It is very exciting to see this range and quality of submissions for our first time," said Samantha MacDonald, artistic producer at Theatre North West. "The two chosen works quite neatly cover the gamut of the northern experience; Dennis Tait's Looking at Life is a lyrical and sometimes poignant look at the beauty and the challenges of the great outdoors while Betsy Trumpener's Highway of Fears illustrates one of the darker sides of life in the north. We're looking forward to getting started on the dramaturgy with Lisa C. Ravensbergen in the very near future and some workshops in the coming weeks."
