The house lights will dim, the shaft of projector light will flicker to life, and some of the best Canadian movies of the year will splash across the screen.
This weekend is the 20th time the College of New Caledonia's film appreciation group has raised the curtain on their annual movie festival. Cinema CNC holds a regular schedule of films to watch at the college each weekend while classes are in session, and they are shown in the Stan Shaffer Theatre (Room 1-306).
In addition to each semester series, Cinema CNC has amassed 20 years of annual all-Canadian extravaganzas packed into a spring weekend at the Prince George Playhouse.
This year's edition features eight critically acclaimed flicks:
No Men Beyond This Point

Al Purdy Was Here

Starring: Margaret Atwood, Leonard Cohen, Sarah Harmer, Michael Ondaatje, Tanya Tagaq, Eurithe Purdy
This documentary has added local interest because Al Purdy really was here. The famous poet was a guest writer in Prince George in the 1970s, which the College of New Caledonia helped facilitate.
