The Friends of Leora Wildi committee has organized a fundraiser dinner dance and silent auction at the Treasure Cove Casino Saturday, with band Andy & Dave providing the entertainment. Tickets are $40 each, with 100 per cent of proceeds going to help offset the expenses of Leora's leukemia treatment. Tickets are available at Koops Bikes. The Leora Wildi trust account has been established at the Integris Credit Union and the account number is 699694-01 and anyone wishing to donate can do so. Koops Bikes is also taking bottle donations to help with the fundraising effort.

Brennan Eyles returns to town with his band Southern Death Threat to perform at the Rum Jungle on Saturday with local bands Axis Disrupt and Dangercat. Tickets are $10 in advance (available at Alfredo's Pub & the Rum Jungle) and $15 at the door. For more info call 250 564-3773. This event is 19 and over. Doors open at 9 p.m.

Strutt Your Mutt Saturday and support the SPCA at 6 p.m. at the CN Centre Agriplex. $5 to register your dog. Register at the Dog Gone Bakery. There are several categories to enter.

Annual Recreation Mart will be held Saturday and Sunday at Pine Center Mall. Registration and information will be available from more than 40 leisure, cultural, sports, non profit organizations and some commercial groups.

Cafe Scientifique at Books & Co., present The Arctic is Melting: What does that mean to us? Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., at 1685 Third Avenue. The talk, presented by Dr. Stphen Dery, Canada research chair in Northern Hydrometeorology, UNBC, will explore the implications of the melting of ice from glaciers, ice fields, and in northern climates with a focus on the implications for central British Columbia. The event is free and open to all ages.

There's a St. Patrick's Day concert with Out of Alba and Clann Cara March 13 at Art Space. Come out and celebrate St. Patrick's Day as the bands present the tunes and songs of Ireland. Hear the sounds of traditional ballads, contemporary songs, the rhythms of jigs and reels, and partake of the special spirit of Ireland in the unique musical language of two bands who have graced the stages of Prince George for many years, sharing the Celtic culture. Fiddle, bodhran drum, pennywhistle, accordian, harp, guitar, and voices will light up the evening and fill the air with good vibrations that should send you home with a lilt in your step and a smile in your heart. Tickets are $15 and available at Books & Co. The show begins at 7:30 p.m.
