A double-bill acoustic concert happens tonight, downtown.

The Lambda Club (1177 3rd Ave, upstairs, two pieces of ID required for entry) is host to Jeff Andrew and Red Haven.

"Jeff Andrew is a folk-noir fiddler who takes a head full of ghost stories, murder ballads, train tunes and protest songs and turns it into a patchwork of folk, punk, Celtic and old jazz. Jeff also plays fiddle in the Joey Only Outlaw Band," said concert promoter Earl Krushelnicki.

As for Red Haven, he said this group has a cast of members who each bring a different shade of colour to their sound.

"[They combine] the gyspy-jazz madness honed by Jen (accordion, saxophone/vocals), and Ryan (drums) from their years in the vaudevillian Blackberry Wood, and the folky-blues tendencies of Brendan (guitar) and Nathan (bass/banjo)," he said.

Entry fee is $10 for both groups. It is the first in a series of summer concerts Krushelnicki is going to unveil in the weeks ahead.
