The Downtown Winter Fair will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Civic Centre.

This family-friendly fair offers last-minute shopping, the sparkle of twinkling lights, Christmas music and a chance to lace up those skates and take a spin on the outdoor rink at Canada Games Place before enjoying a hot chocolate to warm up.

There will be more than 100 vendors in attendance including the Youth in Philanthropy Committee of the Prince George Community Foundation, which will be fundraising to support youth projects and activities in the community by holding a bake sale.

"Thanks to the Prince George Farmers' Market and especially to Shergood Gardens and Grandma's Goodies, who provided hundreds of baked items," said Brenda Langlois, executive director of the community foundation.

"Board members of the foundation also graciously donated baked items."

Along with baked goods the community foundation partnered with Volcanic Gaming to host a Super Smash Bros. 4 video game tournament and a Mario Kart 8 free play for all ages.

There is an Elf 101 workshop where children can learn what it takes to be a good Elf for Santa. The workshop will teach children how to grow candy canes, make reindeer food and make fresh snow. Guests at the fair will also be able to test their aim as they try to dunk Santa in the tank.

The Downtown Winter Fair is a free event and everyone is welcome to attend.
