Lower Mainland musician Bob Westfall brings his combination of golden country and modern folk to Prince George this week.

Westfall has been performing his way through the Cariboo and arrives for a solo concert at Cafe Voltaire on Friday night.

Going by the title Moonlight Poet, Westfall has self-produced a number of albums and music videos that belie his youth.

He mixes in some gospel themes, some blues and some grit with his troubadour spirit.

He also applies his music to other ends.

He attended Capilano University and graduated in 2013 with their Bachelor of Music Therapy credentials.

"I have been a working music therapist since, specializing in geriatrics and mental health," he said.

"I completed a 1,000-hour internship at the Provincial Assessment Centre (dual diagnosis mental health) and the German Canadian Care Home (geriatrics). I am currently a member of the Canadian Association for Music Therapy."

Music is not his only creative outlet. Westfall just returned from two months of working on yoga pursuits in Thailand.

He has performed his music in a number of far-flung locations, including Southeast Asia, Hawaii, Mexico, the United States and his present tour will take him across Canada to Newfoundland & Labrador.

He performs a free concert at Cafe Voltaire inside Books & Company on Friday at 8 p.m.
