Come In From the Cold

The Coldsnap music festival is long over but the workshops that ran throughout the event left lingering effects that have resulted in the Come In From the Cold Exhibition and Silent Auction.

The Coldsnap music festival is long over but the workshops that ran throughout the event left lingering effects that have resulted in the Come In From the Cold Exhibition and Silent Auction.

The Community Arts Council is exhibiting the work created by artists at the workshops and the pieces are up for silent auction for a week beginning Friday.

The opening reception is at 5 p.m. Friday at Studio 2880, 2880 15th Avenue.

The Come In From The Cold Workshops came about in a unique partnership between the Prince George Folk Festival Society that organized Coldsnap, Sarah L. Cunningham Consulting as well as local arts and non-profit organizations. The Come In From The Cold Workshop series gave residents of Prince George a chance to explore and experience multiculturalism, inclusion and diversity by using music and sharing stories. During the sessions local artists Lynn Box, Bob D'Auray, Irene Fyvie, Douglas Lamb, Crystalynn Tarr, Karma Vance, Ute Wilder and Wendy Young came together to document the events and create artworks around their experience.

Rob Ziegler, inspired by the project, also contributed a piece that was on display during the event and will be available for auction. These artworks, along with works from Leanna Carlson created at the Spirit of the One Song, will be displayed at Studio 2880 until April 8.

During the auction, phone and live bids will be accepted until 5 p.m. on April 8.

To place a phone bid call Studio 2880 at 562-4526 or 563-2880.

Everyone is welcome to attend the opening reception. Light refreshments will be served.
