The 37th annual Great Northern Chili Cook-off and Spring Arts Bazaar goes Saturday at the Prince George & District Community Arts Council's headquarters at Studio 2880.
The event is a fundraiser for the arts council and the Prince George Potters' Guild.
The bazaar goes from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the cook-off is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
"To provide entertainment, Coldsnap is coming with a fantastic line up," said Lisa Redpath, project manager at the arts council. "But I'm being kept in the dark as they want it to be a surprise."
The ever-popular chili cook-off sees nine teams compete for top spot and bragging rights.
"Last year's winner was Shirley Bond and Pat Bell's team The Spice Cabinet," said Redpath. "This year Mike Morris, new to this event, will be here with Shirley to defend their title."
Everyone is invited to come to the event, buy a collectible handmade ceramic bowl created by the potters' guild, then sample all the chili and vote for their favourite to see whose spicy recipe tantalizes the most taste buds.
"The potters have made the bowls and they're beautiful," said Redpath. "People come year after year and collect them. There's one lady that has come for the last 13 years and looks forward to adding to her collection of handmade bowls."
Several community artists will have a booth to sell their wares and people who attend the bazaar will be able to browse through the arts market as well as check out information booths from a variety of organizations like the 2015 Canada Winter Games committee.
"The Great Northern Chili Cook-off and Spring Arts Bazaar is one of those must-attend events," said Redpath.
