The Foothills Brass Quintet, one of Western Canada's most acclaimed pop-classical groups, has a matinee show on Sunday at the Prince George Playhouse.

The ensemble exists "to promote live brass music to the public" and will be here to perform for various schools as their first order of business. However, a supportive local sponsor stepped forward to make them available, also, for one public concert.

"Founded in 1981, the FBQ has the distinct privilege of being one of only a handful of chamber groups to maintain a full-time performance schedule since its inception," said a statement from the group.

"Foothills Brass presents up to 200 events each year in concert halls, universities, classrooms and cathedrals. Foothills Brass is composed of five versatile musicians from across North America. This superb Canadian quintet is dedicated to exceptional artistic presentation, meaningful educational activities and innovative leadership in the artistic community."

The group has five albums on the market, and an international touring schedule.

Admission to their Prince George show is $20 for adults, $10 for youth and seniors.

Doors open at 2:30 p.m., showtime is 3 p.m. on Sunday.
