There’s a book launch at Books & Co. for a northern wilderness author Oct. 22 from 1 to 3 p.m.

Bestselling author Caroll Simpson writes about the joys and challenges of operating a fishing lodge in the wilds of BC in her latest book Alone in the Great Unknown: One Woman’s Remarkable Adventures in the Northwestern Wilderness.

She will be touring Northern BC and making stops in Quesnel, Burns Lake, Smithers, Granisle and Terrace.

Alone in the Great Unknown is the story of an urban woman who fell in love with a cabin on pristine Babine Lake.

The book recounts Simpson’s life in the wilderness, managing a lodge, becoming an accidental environmentalist, fending off wild animals, working as an angling guide and at the height of her career successfully defeating a proposed mining operation and participating in the development off a government land plan as a spokesperson for the wilderness tourism industry.

Simpson now lives on Vancouver Island with her husband, Helmut.
