"Over the years there have been open mic things happen at a few different establishments, and they all petered out, but some of the people involved are wanting to kickstart it again, so they came to us," said store owner Owen Lubbers. "In the '70s we had the Backdoor CoffeeHouse. The next generation brought us the Urban CoffeeHouse. For many years the Cottonwood Club hosted local music on Sundays. Those were all before my time. It's great to have a coffeehouse scene for today."

CoffeeHouse Sundays happen from 2-5 p.m. each Sunday, starting with the inaugural event this weekend.

Anyone wishing to play a song or two can come down and sign up for a spot at the microphone. There will be a host each week, and for the audience, someone will always be available to perform so you'll have a jig to go with your java or a capriccio to go with your cappuccino.
