ArtSpace is home to a number of special events in the weeks ahead. From hard rock to hard laughs, the performance area above Books & Company has a collection of shows to offer.

The one coming most speedily on the calendar is Thursday night when the decibels get bumped up a notch. Rock acts abound with Genevieve Jade Tucker starting the night with an acoustic appetizer, local newcomers Redwhyn making themselves known, The Inferior Pluto taking their shot, and Mathias Rock getting in on the action.

Showtime is 9 p.m. and admission is $15.

The laughs get unloaded on Oct. 15 when the third edition of the ArtSpace Comedy Jam grabs a mike. Local standup star Brian Majore leads a team of local comics on a trip through the brain's most electrified pleasure sensors, lining up for their turn in the comedy spotlight.

The jokes get jostled starting at 9 p.m. Tickets are $5 at the door.

On Sept. 29, well travelled B.C. folkie Gerry Barnum makes his return to Prince George after a long absence. The Vancouver Island troubadour brings a vibrant spray of guitar, harmonica and poetic lyrics to every concert appearance.

His show starts at 7:30 p.m., tickets are $15 on sale now at Books & Company, and local guitar star Eric Tompkins will open the show.

The very next night another solo folkie from the southern coast takes her turn on the ArtSpace stage. Lauren Mann has been setting the indie circuit on fire (she won the 2014 CBC Searchlight competition) from her dual homes in Alberta and the Gulf Islands, and she brings her Dearestly tour to Prince George on Oct. 30.

Showtime is 8:15 p.m., and admission is $15 in advance or $18 at the door.

Deeper into autumn, Peter Katz will be back by popular demand. Katz is a Toronto-based singer-songwriter with a long list of albums and songs people love in Prince George.

"Peter is one of my favourite performers as he always makes you feel like you're part of something special when you're at one of his shows," said ArtSpace and Books & Company owner Owen Lubbers. "I believe this will be Peter's eighth time performing here."

Katz will take the stage on Nov. 8 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $16 plus tax, available now at Books & Company.
