Acting workshops for those interested in working in film and television Friday for children seven to 14 years old, Saturday and Sunday for adults. Instructor Ann Forry is a casting director from Vancouver. The workshops are held at Jana Phillips Agency, 5100 North Nechako Road. For information or to register e-mail aforry@canadafilm.com.

Faith in the Fallen is presenting a hard rock show Friday at Knox United Church, 1448 Fifth Avenue. Doors at 6:30 and the first act starts at 7. The line up is Martin Bodo, Slaughterfall, Noordvall, and Faith in the Fallen, who are also shooting a music video during the show. Tickets are $10 at the door.

Something Old, Something New opening recpetion at Groop Gallery, 1127 Third Avenue, showcases conceptual and creative responses from more than 20 local and regional artists Friday at 7 p.m.

Theatre North West's Home Ice goes until Dec. 8 at Parkhill Centre. The show is a light-hearted look at home renos during pregnancy while defending a thesis during the Canucks playoffs.

The Latino-Canadian Association of Northern B.C. hosts the Latin Christmas Potluck party Saturday at 5 p.m. Knox United Church, 1448 5th Ave. Bring the family and a favourite dish to this annual event. Cinema CNC offers Project Nim-The Extraordinary Journey of Nim Chimpsky: Can a Chimpanzee learn sign language Saturday at the College of New Caledonia, Room 1-306. Pancake Brunch with Santa is hosted by Muscular Dystrophy Canada and the Hart Community Centre Sunday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Hart Community Centre. Santa will be escorted by the Prince George Fire Fighters. There's Shrine clowns, Country Cuzzins singers, prizes, face painting, food and fun. $10 adults, $5 children, $25 family of four. Heritage Community Carolfest Thursday at 7 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 180 South Tabor Boulevard at 7 p.m.. Organizers are asking everyone to bring a non-perishable food item to be donated to St. Vincent De Paul Society. Refreshments and treats to follow.
