Athletes will be powering their way through their sporting events during the Canada Winter Games, but the city's culture has a power of its own.

The Community Arts Council will host the Winter Games Artist Market to bring the best in local artists and artisans into the downtown bustle of the mega-event bringing thousands of tourists, fans and special guests to Prince George from all across Canada.

Anyone from northern B.C. wishing to market their wares to Canada is invited to submit an application.

"On the Community Arts Council website (www.studio2880.com) you will find our application and criteria for eligibility," said CAC arts coordinator Raine Gould. "There will be various venues set up at different Games sporting sites, ensuring a high number of people view your products with one venue highlighting and honouring our aboriginal artists and our northern heritage."

Like a Games-long and widespread version of Studio Fair, there is a fee to the CAC to participate, and a quality control process during the application period, to ensure the northern region is represented by the best in the cultural realm. The CAC, in conjunction with Games organizers, will embark on a marketing campaign as well as display areas for the participating artists and artisans.

"We hope that all our northern artists will assist us in making the 2015 Canada Winter Games Artists Market a success and show the rest of Canada how truly talented northern B.C. is," Gould said.

Deadline for filling out the application form online is today.
