As spring breakers sound the inevitable 'I'm bored' alarm, the Immigrant and Multicultural Services Society presents a musical theatre production Thursday at 11:30 a.m. by Miscellaneous Productions from Vancouver with the theme of establishing self-empowerment through artistic expression.
As this event is geared for youth, the invitation is extended to those seven to 24 years old, and, of course, parents of the little ones are welcome to attend.
Miscellaneous Productions is offering this innovative free event as part of IMSS's anti racism public education campaign.
"Miscellaneous Productions is the only musical theatre group in Canada that is youth serving," said Maria Rossi, project coordinator, anti-racism education campaign for IMSS. "They base their presentations on working with youth dealing with social problems and helping them empower themselves using musical expression and art. It sounds like a pretty powerful piece. It's an interactive approach that they take so they will involve people from the audience."
Rossi said she is offering the event to a broad base of youth to reach as many people as she can with this positive message.
The production will be held at the IMSS building at 1270 Second Avenue at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday.
Lunch is provided. RSVP by emailing [email protected] or calling 250-562-2900
