As a visual artist with a disability Troy Lindstrom created a new body of work featuring portraits of people who have inspired and supported him.
The exhibit features Lindstrom's digital work and offers a glimpse into the process of making the art by offering time lapse video as the portraits were developed.
The official opening of the exhibit takes place Dec. 3 honouring International Day of People with Disability, a United Nations sanctioned day.
Lindstrom is a strong advocate for persons with disabilities and his exhibit called Positive Practice: Acts of Kindness & Creating with Disability emphasizes that.
The exhibit, that is mindful of anyone with disabilities, has an audio component for those with visual impairments. The artist narrates the exhibit.
"As a person who has lived with a disability most of my adult life my art has been a refuge from the physical pain and depression," Lindstrom said. "Both have been constants in my life and they are hard to separate. Art has brought me joy when my disability is at times all consuming."
