City of Prince George and the Two Rivers Gallery presented nine specially designed street banners as part of BC Arts and Culture Week Thursday at a special unveiling held at the gallery.

There were 98 designs submitted by local artists answering the call for submissions earlier this year.

"The jury was so impressed with the artwork that we decided we just had to share all the entries with the public," said Carolyn Holmes, Two Rivers public programs manager. "The jury had a difficult time choosing only nine designs to be printed on the banners and we recognize the time and effort that went in to each submission."

Banners will be on display in the Civic Plaza area, along Third and 15th Avenues, and at the CN Centre.

The banners will add colour and creative expression to the city's streets and public spaces, reflect a positive image for Prince George, inspire the community and showcase artists and their original designs, Holmes said in a press release.
