A Prince George man described how he stumbled across a body while collecting cans for cash, during testimony Tuesday in the trial of accused serial killer Cody Alan Legebokoff.

Johnny Pius said he rode his bike out to a gravel pit off Foothills Boulevard in the morning of Oct. 26, 2009 because he knew it was a popular party spot and so a place to find refundable empties.

Pius' hunch proved right and he found some near where there was remnants of a bonfire from the night before. Then he took the unusual step of making his way up a steeper section of the gravel pit to look for a new path to a nearby road and, in so doing, came across the partially buried body of Jill Stacey Stuchenko.

Pius' next step was to ride back to the North District RCMP detachment on 15th St. near Ospika Blvd. to report his finding to police.
