The northbound lanes of Ospika Boulevard between Tyner and Davis have been closed to traffic to give workers room to replace a broken water valve.
The work is expected to be completed by mid-July and will also include upgrades to improve service in the area, the City said.
"Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes when possible and to drive cautiously around road crews," the City said.
The project affects more than 240 homes in the Charella Garden neighbourhood. These residences may experience some temporary fluctuations in water pressure during the project.
The valve and water main were installed in 1997.
