They are finding all sorts of interesting things at a B.C. interior museum.
The Greater Vernon Museum and Archives has been closed all week for renovations and when it opens next week, it will have a new look filled with some new, old stuff.
Steve Fleck, museum executive director, said the renovations were long overdue and will not only provide a new look for the inside, but new exhibits as well.
“Inside the museum we are calling this an historic time because the museum is going through significant changes,” said Fleck.
“We are bringing a lot of our collection items out from the back. We are able to look at them, re-organize them and there has been some great discoveries.”
Over the years items were catalogued and put in storage by previous staff, and all but forgotten, until this week when they were 'rediscovered.'
“They are discovering items that we are really excited to bring out. For people who love museums who are down here working and volunteering, it's like Christmas to them,” said Fleck.
“We plan to keep rotating the collection in the back to keep that as an ongoing project. The evaluation of the collections and have some of it come out from the back and be on display is going to be an ongoing thing.”
