A revamped Laketown Shakedown festival will fill the grounds of Cowichan Valley’s Laketown Ranch on the Canada Day long weekend, with a roster of rock and rap stars booked to appear at what could be one of the top festival events on Vancouver Island this summer.

Snoop Dogg will headline the event while Incubus, Sublime with Rome and Smash Mouth will also be performing. Black Pistol Fire, Five Alarm Funk, Jesse Roper and DJ Nu-Mark of Jurassic 5 round out the top of the roster of the three-day festival, which will be held June 28-30 on the 172-acre site near Youbou.

Laketown Shakedown had taken place in previous years, but with mostly Canadian classic rock acts as its focus.

In addition to the headliners, more than a dozen rap, rock and electronic performers have been added to the new version of Laketown Shakedown, with another round of acts to be named once the full schedule is announced in the coming weeks.

The festival includes camping, a food village and full-service bars. Notable aspects of the site include flush toilets and plumbed showers.

Camping passes, weekend passes and single-day tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday at laketownshakedown.com.
