Now that the province of B.C. has announced they want to phase out the sale of gasoline-powered vehicles by the year 2040, getting behind the wheel of an electric vehicle may be more tempting than ever.

The province announced July 30 that they are implementing new rules to ensure all vehicle sales will be for zero-emission rides by 2040.

Now Tesla is ramping up their reach by offering touchless test drives in B.C. starting next week.

The first opportunity to test drive a Tesla is in Kamloops on Aug. 5 and 6 at the Kamloops visitor centre between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

The website invites potential buyers and electric vehicle enthusiasts to, "join us in Kamloops for a touchless test drive this summer."

The website hails the event as a "self-guided appointment, where you’ll have the opportunity to experience the award-winning Model X, Model 3 or Model Y from behind the wheel."

Participants will learn how to plug in at home or stay charged on the road with one of the most expansive charging networks in the world.

A Tesla advisor will also provide instructions remotely upon your arrival, including additional driving tips and will be available to answer any questions and ensure vehicle cleanliness.

The tour continues in the Okanagan Aug. 7 to 9 at the Best Western Plus Kelowna Hotel & Suite in Kelowna and the following week, Aug. 14 to 16, in Victoria at bear Mountain Resort.

You are advised to RSVP as space is limited and demand is high.
