Team B.C. will not get to represent their home province or country in Prince George next month.
Corryn Brown's squad got their first win of the Scotties Tournament of Hearts championship round this afternoon (Feb. 21) in Moose Jaw, but won't be advancing to the playoffs after Northern Ontario secured the final spot.
B.C. triumphed 9-2 over Chelsea Carey's Team Canada in the penultimate draw of the championship round, bringing their record to 5-5.
The win briefly kept hopes of advancing alive for Brown's rink after two straight losses yesterday (Feb. 20) to Manitoba and Northern Ontario.
However, the celebration was short-lived, as Krista McCarville and Northern Ontario beat Prince Edward Island 6-5 to clinch the final playoff spot.
Brown's team, from Kamloops, will close out the Scotties against Saskatchewan at 4:30 p.m. today.
The winner of this weekend's playoff round, the 2020 Scotties champion, will play as host-Canada for the World Women's Curling Championships March 14 to 22.
The Scotties title is going to either Ontario (Rachel Homan, Krista McCarville) or Manitoba (Jennifer Jones, Kerri Einarson). That's your final four at #STOH2020. They'll sort final order tonight. Everyone else is eliminated.
