Two weather alerts are now in play for Prince George.
Following on a severe thunderstorm watch issued this morning, Environment Canada issued a smoky sky bulletin this afternoon (Friday, July 7).
"These regions are being impacted or are likely to be impacted by wildfire smoke over the next 24-48 hours," the agency said in the bulletin, which also covers the Stuart-Nechako.
"High levels of smoke continue in northeastern B.C. There is also widespread haze across many regions of B.C. Increasing haziness and smoke conditions may occur; precipitation may temporarily improve smoke conditions."12:30 p.m.
Environment Canada is forecasting a medium chance of showers or thunderstorms by 2 p.m. continuing well into the night.
"Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain," the agency says in a statement issued Friday.
"Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!"
