RCMP are investigating a homicide in the tiny, unincorporated community of 70 Mile House – located 41 km south of 100 Mile House.
The Southeast District Major Crime Unit has been called in to conduct the investigation, after police were called to the community just after 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 26. Officers from Clinton RCMP were called to a home in the 2600-block of Komori Road.
Officers discovered a 52-year-old man suffering from critical injuries and applied first aid, however the man was declared dead at the scene by BC Ambulance personnel.
"One 62-year-old man, who is known to the victim was arrested and has since been released but has not yet been charged, as the investigation continues,” B.C. RCMP spokesperson Staff Sgt. Janelle Shoihet said in a statement issued on Monday. “Investigators believe that this is an isolated incident and there's no ongoing risk to the public.”
The investigation into the homicide is ongoing.
