Charges have been approved against a Kelowna man in connection with an alleged incident in the Hart on Monday morning.
Calvin Albert Jones, 38, remains on custody on one count each of forcible confinement, assault by choking, assault, assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, mischief under $5,000 and two counts of uttering threats.
Jones was arrested after RCMP were called to the 2500 block of Grant Road. He was apprehended without incident but not before emergency response team and police dog services were deployed and neighbouring homes were evacuated for a time.
Jones has a criminal record that includes convictions for violent offences. In June 2017, he was sentenced in Kelowna to two years in jail followed by 2 1/2 years probation for assault causing bodily harm and has since been charged with two counts of breaching probation in connection with that sentencing, according to court records.
Given Jones' history, Prince George RCMP Cpl. Jennifer Cooper said police are concerned he may have committed similar but unreported offences in this city and said anyone who may have been the victim of a violent offence involving Jones can contact the detachment by calling 250-561-3300 to speak with an officer.
