Howard the Gnome, who spent years as a Nanoose Bay roadside attraction, was disassembled and trundled by truck to his new home at Galey Farms in Saanich on Thursday.

The Saanich site was chosen by family members of the late Ron Hale, creator of the eight-metre-tall figure.

One hitch is that Howard is about half a metre too tall for Saanich height bylaws, said Rob Galey, who was told he could apply for a variance.

After extensive repairs this summer, Howard is set to take his place among other Galey Farms features, including a corn maze, railway and pirate ship.
