Were you among the many fans camped out in front of your television Sunday night for the highly-anticipated return of Game of Thrones?
While you may have gathered with friends for a viewing, in the City of Surrey, the Game of Thrones spirit was pretty strong from City Hall down, thanks to a fun social media campaign focused on the city’s neighbourhoods.
Rally the realm and raise your banners! Which house do you belong to? #ForTheThrone pic.twitter.com/93N9rGWO2p

“Rally the realm and raise your banners! Which house do you belong to?” tweeted @cityofsurrey.
The fun campaign includes a map of Surrey’s “kingdoms,” as in the city’s six core communities: Whalley, Guildford, Fleetwood, Newton, Cloverdale, and South Surrey.
Each of the six kingdoms has its own banner and slogan. Props to Surrey for Cloverdale’s tagline of “Rodeo is coming.”
With each tweet requesting a retweet to show neighbourhood pride, it would seem Fleetwood has the highest overlap centre on the Venn Diagram of Game of Thrones watchers and Twitter users.
