Fort St. John nurses get goodie bags in thanks

Several nurses met Monday morning May 9 at the Fort St. John Hospital to receive a thank you from local businesses and elementary students as part of National Nursing Week.

Fort St. John nurses got a warm thank you Monday morning as part of National Nursing Week, with 200 tote bags fill with gifts from local elementary students and businesses.

Each bag contained a handmade thank-you card from Bert Ambrose students, as well as mints, a pen, and a journal. They were put together in partnership with SJA Promo and several other local companies.

Laurie Wright, principal for Bert Ambrose, says the school was happy to take part in the project and work with students to craft their cards.

“It was such a great opportunity for our students to give back to the community and they had so much fun creating the cards," Wright said.

National Nursing Week is celebrated every year to draw attention to the work nurses do in their communities, and across the country.

Totes will also be making their way down to Site C and gifted to the nurses working at the dam.

“With everything nurses have done to support our community during these challenging times, we wanted to make sure they know how much their work and dedication is appreciated,” said SJA owner Kailey Odermatt.
