Dawson Creek swimmer medals each time she dives into the pool

Robin O’Reilly has more than 160 medals from BC and Canada 55+ games, and is headed to Victoria this month to compete for more.

The pandemic took her away from swimming for two years.

“I just started back up this February.”

She has just returned from her first time competing at the Canada 55+ Games in

Kamloops, BC with three gold medals: 50m Freestyle, 50m Butterfly, 100m Freestyle.

These Games are held every two years with Quebec hosting the 2024 Canada 55+ Games. Since 2001 she has competed annually at the BC 55+ Games, bringing home a medal in each of her 6 individual races as well as 2 relays. This leads to a rough estimate of more than 160 medals.

“They aren’t all gold, but I have a medal from every race.”

She’s headed to the 2022 BC 55+ Games in Victoria starting Sept. 13. In some odd symmetry, O’Reilly has been a resident of Mile Zero for fifty-five plus years.
