An assault in Quesnel sent a 36-year-old man to hospital with life-threatening injuries on Wednesday evening.
Quesnel RCMP were called to Baker Memorial Hospital at 7:24 p.m. on Wednesday, where the victim was being treated.
An investigation revealed that an altercation had occurred between two people at the Northern Network of Peers for Equality on St. Laurent Street in Quesnel. On its Facebook page, NOPE is described as “a peer-led organization for and by people who use(d) drugs. NOPE is composed of current and former drug users and (allies) in Quesnel and across BC. We believe all humans are equal and fight for radical change within all systems that have discriminated against and oppressed people who use drugs.”
A suspect has been identified in the assault, and the victim and suspect were known to each other, according to an RCMP statement.
