Vandals cut Telus cable

Service now restored
Telus agrees to give up to $7.3M in customer rebates for misleading ads

Nearly 300 Telus customers in Prince George were left without television after a cable was cut on Thursday morning in an act of vandalism.

Telus had intended to restore service by Thursday night but unexpected challenges caused a delay. A company spokesperson confirmed Monday afternoon that it had been restored.

In all 280 TV customers and 80 with internet were affected. Wireless services remained unscathed "which means customers can use their cell phones to stay connected and in the event of an emergency."

"Irresponsible acts of vandalism like this cause serious disruptions for our customers and in extreme cases, can put lives at risk by cutting off critical communications services," Telus spokesperson Liz Sauve said in an email sent Thursday. "Having a reliable connection at home has become more important than ever before as the Covid-19 pandemic continues to evolve, and many of our customers work from a home office."
