Logan Cox is enjoying the view from the top of the medal podium at the Canada Winter Games in Prince Edward Island.

The 16-year-old from Prince George sprinted to his second gold medal of the Games, capturing the para-nordic standing cross-country skiing sprint event on Wednesday.

Cox got to the finish in two minutes 45 seconds, 23 seconds ahead of silver medalist Felix Lafond of Rouyn-Noranda, Que. Charles Lecours of Quebec won bronze.

Cox opened with a win Tuesday in the 2.5 km classic event.

His final event of the Games, the five km freestyle (interval start) is scheduled for Friday.

Meanwhile, in archery, 15-year-old Mason Pollard of Prince George qualified eighth in the male compound bow event.

Pollard, a member of the Silvertip Archers club in Prince George, totaled 560 points in his opening round Wednesday. The second round of qualifying is ongoing today with the preliminary round, quarterfinals, semifinals and medal rounds scheduled for Friday in Charlottetown

Three Prince George Judo Club members are competing today. Hannah Yin (63 kilograms) and Alandra Steiger (63 kg) both lost their opening two bouts and will drop to the consolations round of the individual competition.

Yin started with a 10-0 loss to Loika Robertson of Quebec, then was defeated 10-0 by Olivia Krynski of Manitoba. Steiger dropped a 10-0 decision to Dakota Banzana of New Brunswick, then lost 5-0 to McKenna Stewart of Manitoba.

In the 70 kg weight class, Lily McCullough suffered a 10-0 loss to Maralgoo Batbayer of Alberta, then beat Morgan Wellor of Newfoundland 10-0 to qualify for a bronze medal bout, which she lost to Abigail Smith of Nova Scotia.

Judo wraps up Saturday with the team competition.
