DowntownPG Fallfest Markets Day takes place Saturday, Oct. 2.

To showcase the two major farmers’ markets and a Fourth Avenue special market held in downtown Prince George there’s a celebration taking place Saturday.

The Prince George Farmers’ Market and the Wilson Square Community Market will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. as always and Fourth Avenue merchants will have their own special street market from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Downtown will be full of outdoor vendors, entertainment, activities, and free pumpkins (while quantities last.)

Remember all parking is free on weekends, including all downtown City of Prince George parking lots and parkades.

“We miss hosting our regular festivals during these different times, but we realize that downtown is still the scene for safe and fun shopping, eating, and exploring experiences for everyone,” said Colleen Van Mook, executive director for Downtown Prince George. “The Downtown Fallfest Markets Day brings you three great markets all on one day.”

Wilson Square Community Market on Third Avenue between George Street and Queensway features traditional farm fresh meat and produce which is available along with wild-foraged seasonal fiddleheads and morels as well as contributions from local artisans and baked treats. There’s a pumpkin give away and a special pancake breakfast featured in the morning while in the afternoon entertainment will be provided by local musician Mike Vigano.

At the Prince George Farmer’s Market on Third Avenue from Quebec Street to Dominion Street there is local vegetables, ethically raised grass-fed meats, baking, fruits, hot foods, coffee, honey, jams and jellies, preserves, artisan products including crafts and jewelry.

Join in some fun fall activities, free pumpkin give-away, check out some tasty food vendors and enjoy free entertainment by Chris Goode.

The Fourth Avenue Fallfest Market on Fourth Avenue on Quebec Street and Dominion Street sees merchants come together for shopping experiences at Alison’s Embroidery, Back Forty, Dandy Lines, Jim’s Clothes Closet, Kathy’s Quilts, Les Beaux Visages, McInnis Lighting, PS Pianos, Sisters, Shhh Gifts, Walkrite Shoes and Zoe’s Java House.

Patrons can enter to win a $100 gift card to their favourite downtown business by posting on Facebook and Instagram. For more information visit www.downtownpg.com.
