Active cases of COVID-19 have dropped below another milestone.

According to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control numbers issued Thursday, the count on that front stood at 56, marking the first time since fall 2020 that that active cases were below 60.

Meanwhile the count for new cases was revised to show zero cases on Sunday, one new case on Monday, zero again on Tuesday and four new cases on Wednesday.

Vaccinations continued apace in the region with 5, 271 delivered since last reported, boosting the total to 194,668, of which 152,049 were first doses and 42, 619 were second doses. The totals do not include jabs delivered by the First Nations Health Authority in the region.

"We're making significant progress in our COVID-19 vaccine program, using every available dose to get people fully vaccinated as soon as possible," provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and health minister Adrian Dix said in a joint statement.
