New show at Omineca Arts Centre

Catherine Sharp is Omineca Arts Centre's Artist in Residence for February.

Sharp is a mixed media artist who is offering a free workshop along with the grand opening of  her exhibit called Ink and Thread, Exploring Identity Through Nature Feb. 12 at 6 p.m.

Her Virtual Line Work Exploration workshop takes place Feb. 13 at 2 p.m.

Sharp is in Indigenous artist who is currently a student at the College of New Caledonia.

Sharp studied painting at Bennington College in Vermont and is now expanding her education into a new medium with the college's drawing classes.

The work on display at Omineca Arts Centre uses natural materials such as leather, fur, wool, bark, thread, ink and paper and depicts her journey to find herself in the land.

Sharp's exhibit is on display until March and those interested can visit in person following safety protocols or online.

Sharp is in studio Monday, Tuesday, Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. and Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at 369 Victoria Street during the month of February.
