Tapestry Singers want to see you On the Sunny Side of the Street

Prince George Tapestry Singers invite you to attend a choral concert, On the Sunny Side of the Street, on Saturday, June 1 at St. Mike’s Anglican Church in
Prince George. Shows are at 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

The performance celebrates "the joyful young voices of both the junior and senior Tapestry Singers and their collaborations with several local professional musicians," states a press release. "Selections will range from contemporary to traditional and offer something for everyone. Always a sellout, Tapestry’s concerts present a gorgeous choral sound along with unique movement and choreography.

Opening with a land acknowledgement and blessing from Elder Melody Buzas, the singers will perform tunes like Be Our Guest, I’s the B’y, and the jazz tune On the Sunny Side of the Street. Guests will also hear lesser-known melodies, including Sing Gently, Vichten and a beautiful Cree lullaby, The Sleepy Song.

Local Indigenous artist Shirley Babcock, who will be “live painting” during the concert. A new addition this year will be the Rath Rat Collective, who will be displaying artwork in the reception hall. There may also be an ASL interpreter.
