Prince George B.C Liberal incumbents see landslide of votes on election night

Election night saw both BC Liberal candidates Shirley Bond and Mike Morris retain their seats. Bond will serve her sixth term as MLA in Prince George-Valemount and Morris will serve this third term as MLA in Prince George Mackenzie.

The NDP will win a majority government. Early election results revealing the party has about 44 per cent of the popular vote to the BC Liberals' 35 per cent.

Final election results won’t be tallied until the mail-in-ballots are counted in mid-November. It’s projected that despite final results not being known until at least Nov. 16 Bond and Morris will retain their seats.

Here are the results from both Prince George ridings with all polls counted from election night (Oct. 24) including advance voting.

Prince George – Valemount:

88 of 88 ballot boxes counted

Shirley Bond – BC Liberal Party: 7,560 (56.43 per cent)

Mackenzie Kerr – BC Green Party: 1,987 (14.83 per cent)

Laura Parent – BC NDP 3,477: (25.95 per cent)

Sean Robinson – Libertarian: 374: (2.79 per cent)

Prince George – Mackenzie:

82 of 82 polls now reporting

Mike Morris – BC Liberal Party: 6,361 (52.33 per cent)

Joan Atkinson – BC NDP: 3,874 (31.97 per cent)

Catharine Kendall – BC Green Party: 1,406 (11.5 per cent)

Dee Kranz – Christian Heritage Party of B.C: 281 (2.31 per cent)

Raymond Rodgers – Libertarian: 233 (1.92 per cent)

Total votes: 12,155

Prince George-Mackenzie has a registered voter total of 34,433 with 4,652 requesting vote-by-mail packages. Prince George-Valemount has a registered voter total of 36,700 with 6,658 requesting vote-by-mail packages.

As of Oct. 23 at 11:59 p.m., Elections BC says they have received 497,900 vote-by-mail packages out of the 724,279 voters in the province that requested a ballot.
