Drivers hitting the B.C. Interior mountain passes over the next few days are in for a challenge.
Environment Canada has issued a winter storm watch for several regions.
“A slow moving winter storm will traverse the southern B.C. Interior beginning Tuesday night. Periods of heavy snow are expected to adversely impact travel conditions across high elevation travel routes through to Thursday,” Environment Canada said.
Exact snowfall amounts are uncertain at this time and will range between mountain passes.
Passes impacted in the storm watch include: the Okanagan Connector, Coquihalla between Merritt and Kamloops, Highway 3 Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass and Trans-Canada Highway Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass.
“Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow,” Environment Canada continued.
The Coquihalla Highway between Hope and Merritt is open to commercial vehicles only. Travel restrictions on Highway 3 between Hope and Princeton will lift on Tuesday.
