A B.C. shampoo company slayed a Dragon this week.
Bottle None, a zero-waste personal hygiene brand, struck a deal with Arlene Dickinson for $110,000 for 15 per cent of their Vernon-based company in the Dragons' Den Season 15 finale.
Ali and Jaye Siegmuller, the sisters who founded the brand, went into the pitch asking for $110,000 for a 10 per cent stake in their business, but accepted Dickinson's offer due to her mentorship capabilities.
The sisters had an impressive four offers on the table, including two face-value offers from Manjit Minhas and Jim Treliving, and a royalty deal from Kelowna native Lane Merrifield.
The Dragons assessed the $1.1 million valuation the women set on the business as fair, but noted there is still a fair amount of work needed to be done to get the company to its full potential.
Bottle None carries a wide variety of zero-waste shampoo bars, conditioners and deodorants, with each replacing approximately three plastic bottles.
"We have been making natural products under another brand (Bare Nature) for the past eight years, and after opening the Okanagan’s first zero-waste shop, we hit the lab to create a Canadian-made bottleless hair care line," says Jaye Siegmuller.
On the episode of Dragons' Den, the sisters say Bottle None has moved $230,000 of product in nine months.
Those sales will likely see a boost in 2021 after striking a deal with Dickinson and landing a deal with Whole Foods Canada, where their products will be stocked in all locations by March.
