'Very friendly': Two goats loiter outside B.C. Starbucks

The goats looked well-fed.

They were "very friendly," according to one passerby.

UPDATE: 2 p.m.

It appears the two goats' coffee run at the West Kelowna Starbucks isn't the first time they've attended a local cafe.

Another Castanet reader sent in photos of what appear to be the same goats outside the downtown Kelowna Blenz on Tuesday of this week, before they carried on down the sidewalk, appearing to follow their owner.

Another Castanet reader said her husband has spoken to the man who owns the goats, and he takes them for walks around town quite often.

Those grabbing a coffee in West Kelowna Thursday afternoon were treated to a friendly surprise.

West Kelowna resident Ronald Ratgers was grabbing some bread at COBS Bread Bakery on Louis Drive at noon when he noticed a peculiar sight: two goats standing outside the nearby Starbucks.

“There were some people there petting them and they were very friendly ... they had no leash, they had no collar, they were just standing there,” Ratgers said. “I thought it was quite funny.”

Ratgers said the goats looked well-fed and were quite friendly with passersby. No one in the area seemed to know where the goats had come from, and Ratgers assumed they had escaped from a nearby property.

“I've seen lots of deers in our gardens, but something like this, I've never seen,” he said.
