VANCOUVER — Criminal charges related to theft, breach of trust and drugs have been laid against a Vancouver police officer.
The department says Const. Neil Logan was charged Monday after a team began a criminal investigation against the officer last May.
Insp. Mike Heard says the investigation started over concerns about Logan's on-duty conduct, then uncovered additional alleged criminal activity.
Crown counsel has approved two counts of theft, two counts of breach of trust and one count of possession of a controlled substance related to his on-duty conduct, while theft and drug possession charges related to his off-duty conduct were also approved.
Logan, who's in his early 40s, has been suspended and the department says he is no longer an active member of the force.
During the same probe, police began looking into one of the officer's associates and charges of drug trafficking have been laid against a 20-year Surrey resident.
