Police seize loaded shotgun, drug paraphernalia in Dawson Creek

BC Highway Patrol says an officer seized a loaded firearm from a pickup truck in Dawson Creek on Jan. 25, the second firearm seized in the past month. 

On that date, around 11:14 pm, police say they received a report of a suspicious blue pickup truck in the area of 20th St and 108th Ave. After locating the truck, police arrested a male driver for possession for the purpose of trafficking. 

The following items were seized during their investigation: 

  • Drugs suspected to be fentanyl
  • Drug trafficking paraphernalia
  • Cell phones
  • A loaded 12-gauge shotgun and ammunition

The driver is also under investigation for operating a vehicle while impaired, and the pickup truck was impounded for 24 hours related to the impaired investigation.

"Charges have not been formally approved and further details about the driver will not be released at this time," they added. 

BC Highway Patrol previously located a carbine-type firearm, ammunition, suspected drugs and counterfeit money in a Chevrolet Malibu in Dawson Creek on Jan. 16, with the driver fleeing the scene.
