New Westminster Police warn public of man doing indecent acts outside local homes

Incidents reported in West End and Connaught Heights neighbourhoods

New Westminster Police Department is warning the public after a man was allegedly masturbating outside of local residences.

In the past week, the police department has received three reports of a man committing indecent acts in the Connaught Heights and West End neighbourhoods. In all instances, police say occupants in the homes saw a man outside their basement window who was allegedly masturbating.

“We’re going to have a higher police presence in the area over the next while,” NWPD spokesperson Sgt. Sanjay Kumar said in a press release. “Please, if you spot anyone committing what you suspect is an indecent act, call 911 as soon as possible, so police can respond quickly.”

After receiving reports about the suspicious male, police, with the assistance of a K9 team, searched the area but couldn’t find anyone matching the suspect description.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, between 35 and 40 years of age, with a medium build. He was wearing blue jeans, a hooded sweatshirt, a flannel shirt and a blue surgical face mask.

The New Westminster Police Department is investigating these incidents. Anyone with information about the suspect or recognizes the man in the photo is asked to contact the New Westminster Police Department’s street crime unit at 604-525-5411.
