He's likely to make it, but he's still in an ICU.

This weekend saw one of the most Canadian rescues you could imagine.

Mounties in White Rock were called to an animal in distress by the ocean. When they got there they found a beaver struggling as waves rolled in, according to a tweet from the RCMP.

Two officers were able to climb down the rocks to the exhausted Canadian icon. They believe the adolescent beaver had left its family to forge its own destiny and ended up in the ocean. It got saltwater poisoning after it ingested seawater.

They took it to the Critter Care Wildlife Society facility in Langley for care. Staff were happy to see him.

"Thank you for bringing us a beaver! He was in rough shape but is expected to make a full recovery! He is still in our ICU," says the wildlife care organization on Facebook.
